About favicons
Is my image uploaded?
No. Every size is drawn on a canvas in your browser and the ZIP is assembled on your device.
Is the .ico a real ICO file?
Yes. It is a proper ICO container holding 16, 32 and 48 pixel images, which is the format browsers and Windows expect.
What size should my source image be?
Square and at least 512×512. Small sources cannot be sharpened by enlarging, so start as large as you can.
Where do the files go?
Put them in the root folder of your site, so they sit at addresses like /favicon.ico, then paste the supplied tags into your page head.
Why does my old icon still show?
Browsers cache favicons stubbornly and often ignore a hard refresh. Renaming the file, or adding a version to the filename, is the reliable way to force an update.
