The HEIC decoder is a ~1 MB WebAssembly module that is lazy-loaded the first time you use this tool, then cached by your browser. HEIC/HEIF support is honestly detected — unsupported files are rejected with a clear reason.

How it works

Three quick steps

1 · Drop HEIC files

Each file is checked by signature (ISO-BMFF "ftyp" brand) for HEIC/HEIF support.

2 · Convert

The on-device WASM decoder turns HEIC into a canvas, then it's re-encoded as JPG or PNG.

3 · Download

Get a ZIP. Nothing was uploaded.

FAQ

About HEIC

Do you upload my photos?

No. Decoding and conversion happen entirely in your browser via WebAssembly.

Why doesn't my browser open HEIC directly?

HEIC/HEIF is Apple's preferred photo format. Native browser support is still inconsistent — Safari reads it, but most other browsers don't. This tool normalises them to JPG or PNG so they open anywhere.

Is the original photo's metadata preserved?

No. To produce a clean JPG/PNG output, only the visual image is carried over. EXIF removal is intentional — most users want the smallest, most compatible file. If you need metadata preserved, use the dedicated EXIF stripper tool with its reverse flow on the already-converted files.
